George Whitfield Dodge ’29
GEORGE DIED Sept. 16, 1991. He prepared at Lawrenceville, and at Princeton won numerals in freshman polo and freshman swimming. He performed in Triangle and belonged to Tiger Inn. After Princeton he went to Tulane Law School, graduating in 1932. He practiced for a year and then went into cotton brokerage; but after two years he entered the coffeeroasting business for his full career, ending as chair of the American Coffee Co. During WWII he served as executive officer on a destroyer escort in the Pacific, retiring as a full lieutenant. He was on the board of Metrairie Park Country Day and was an honorary member of both the Boston Club and the New Orleans Country Club. He married Daisy Glen Wolfe and, after her death, Lula Richards Clay, who also predeceased him. He is survived by three sons, George III, Peter, and Richard. The Class extends its sympathy to George's sons.
