George William Peck ’56
GEORGE DIED of cancer at home in Moorestown, N J., Dec. 11, 1993, surrounded by loving friends and family, including his wife, Faye; sons George Jr. and Russell; daughter Elizabeth; and granddaughter Lauren.
George, a successful investment banker, was sales manager for several major firms in Philadelphia, ending at Rutherford, Brown and Catherwood. Associates admired his great dedication to job and clients, even up to the week before he died. In typical fashion, when told recently by a friendly bartender that he'd been missed, George replied that he wouldn't be in again because he was being transferred.
Duck hunting was a religion for George. His hunting and fishing club on the marsh at Hope Creek in Salem County, N.J., will never be quite the same without his untiring maintenance skills, and he served as New Jersey chairman of Ducks Unlimited for many years.
Rev. Sid Pinch '56, a teammate of George's on the freshman and varsity football teams, participated in a moving memorial service at Moorestown Presbyterian Church.
George was an active member of the Union League of Philadelphia. His humor, intelligent wit, enthusiasm, and gourmetcooking skills will be missed by all those who knew him well.
