Gerald Charles Johnson ’42

WORD HAS BEEN RECEIVED that Jerry died May 22, 1983, in Burlingame, Calif. His whereabouts had been unknown since the early 1980s. At the time of his death, from complications following a fall, he had been retired from the Webb School of California, where he had enjoyed a long c3recr in teaching.

Jerry came to Princeton from Lincoln H.S. in Tacoma, Wash. He majored in English, graduating with high honors, and was a junior Phi Beta Kappa.

In WWII, he served as a lieutenant in the naval supply corps in Europe, Africa, and the Pacific.

He taught English at the Hackley School before joining the faculty of the Webb School, where he taught modern languages, ultimately becoming chairman of the department of languages.

To his son, Gerald II, the class offers its sincere sympathies.
