Gerrit VanAsmus Crouse ’61

Gerritt, known to some of us as Gary, died on Aug. 22, 2023. We do not know where he died or the cause of his death, only that he lived in Nyack, N.Y. He has no known survivors.
He came to us from Pomfret School. At Princeton, he majored in English, took his meals at Wilson Lodge, and was a member of the Outing Club. From earlier reunion yearbooks we learn that he studied clinical psychology at the City University of New York and, at the time of our 25th reunion, was working as a licensed clinical psychologist at the Rockland Childrens Psychiatric Center in Orangeburg, N.Y.
So far as we know, Gerrit was never in touch with the University or the class.

5 Months AgoRemembrance of Gerrit Crouse
Gerrit Crouse, my brother, died August 2024 in Nyack, New York, from lifelong complications from Systemic Lupus which became first apparent at age 18. Lupus was not well known then and he was misdiagnosed for a year at home before returning to Princeton the following year.
He was burdened his whole life by this condition while maintaining a private psychology practice. I remember driving him to his 25th reunion.
