Gordon K. Evans ’26
GORDON EVANS, a lawyer admitted to practice in California and New York, died in New York Hospital in N.Y.C. on Sept. 26, 1991, following a brief illness. Gordon left Princeton in Mar. 1924 to enter business and later to study law at the Univ. of Virginia Law School. He took his L.L.B. there in 1928 and later became a member of the legal staff of American Home Products Co., from which he retired in 1967.
The son of a minister of the gospel, Gordon was deeply religious. He practiced his faith by teaching a Bible class at the First Alliance Church of which he was an active member, and he was a lay preacher at two missions in N.Y.C. For many years Gordon kept in good physical shape by swimming half a mile, almost daily, and riding a tenspeed bicycle. At one time he was a member of Squadron A, well known to members of '26.
In 1934 Gordon married Catherine Bell, a graduate of the Univ. of North Carolina. Catherine predeceased Gordon in July 1985.
Gordon and Catherine are survived by a daughter, Julia E. Richer, and their grandchildren, Paul B. Richer and Susanne L. Richer, to all of whom we extend our deep sympathy.
