Gordon V. Bond ’31

Body

GREAT SCOT BOB BOND died Feb. 10, 1994, at his home in Williamsburg, Va. He moved there in 1978 from Fayetteville, N.Y., where he had worked in marketing at Carrier Corp. for 35 years. After Princeton, he graduated from Fordhant Law School.

After retirement in 1976, Bob and his late wife, Marian, pursued their hobbiestravel, hiking, birdwatching, bridge, golf, carpentry, and music. A man of many talents, Bob played the flute in the Princeton band, and all his life enjoyed playing it. He was a devoted classmate and Princetonian and good friend to many of us. Ever the avid photographer, Bob would, at Reunions, spread out pictures for us to see and would invite us to help ourselves.

Being communityminded, Bob was chairman of Williamsburg Hospital Auxiliary's ASSIST program, a member of St. Andrew's Scottish Society and the Crown Colony Club, a governor of the Virginia Society of the Order of Founders and Patriots of America, past president of the Williamsburg chapter of Sons of the American Revolution, and was an active member in the Episcopal Church.

Bob was preceded at Princeton by his father, A. Russell 1898; grandfather Lewis 1863; and a great-grandfather. Surviving are three daughters, Anna Berkley, Elizabeth Snyder, and Mary King. To them and to the eight grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren, we extend our deep sympathy.
