GRAYSON FRANCIS WYLY, plastics engineer, died after a brief illness on Oct. 22, 1992, at the age of 64. Born in Hackensack, N.J., he grew up at the Jersey Shore and graduated from Long Branch H.S. in 1946. His bachelor's degree was earned in 1950 at the Texas Agricultural and Mechanical Univ. At Princeton, he earned a master of science degree in engineering, specializing in the engineering aspects of plastics and their applications in commerce and industry. In 1954, he was employed by the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company. In 1961 he began working at Minneapolis Honeywell Corp. In 1965, he moved to the Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company (3M), where he spent 25 years, working especially with black, nonconducting tape. The author of several patents, he took early retirement at the age of 62, when 3M moved to Texas. Gardening in the springtime was a favorite hobby. He loved the family cabin and fishing in the north woods of Minnesota and was a talented writer of religious literature. He is survived by his widow, Louise, a teacher of writing skills, two daughters, two sons, and eight grandchildren. To all his family and friends we extend heartfelt sympathy.
