GROVER DIED at his home in Sarasota, Fla., May 17, 1992, of colon cancer. He was 71.

In 1946, Grover joined Ballard Oil Co., of Hartford, Conn., founded by his father. He became its president in 1952. The company was eventually sold to Amerada I less.

Ever a leader in civic affairs, Grover was a board member and past treasurer of the Connecticut Arthritis Foundation and president of the Mashantucket Land Trust and the Child and Family Agency of Southeastern Connecticut.

He relocated to Sarasota in 1982 but kept his Nutmeg State ties via a Summer home in Stonington, Conn. He was a corporator of Lawrence and Memorial Hospital of New London and of the Savings Bank of New London.

Grover was also active in civic and Princeton affairs while living in Florida, becoming a member of tire Sarasota Yacht Club, Ivy League Club, and Princeton Club of Sarasota.

He is Survived hy his widow, jenny Keefe Dunn Lassen; three daughters, Mary, Ann, and Jane Lassen Bohruff; a sister, Marie L. B. Smith; and two grandchildren.
