H. Bailey Lynn II ’65

Body

The son of Hugh Lynn ’36, Bailey came to us from Louisville Country Day School. After graduation from Princeton and Washington & Lee University School of Law, he spent his career with OSHA in Washington, D.C., retiring after 27 years as a senior attorney. He also served in the Army Reserve. His marriage to Nancy Dennis ended in divorce.

Bailey devoted a great deal of time to his community, serving as chairman of the board of St. John’s Community Services in Virginia, which provides group homes, employment, and volunteer services for the severely disabled in northern Virginia. An avid steeplechaser, Bailey rode with the Orange County Hunt in Middleburg, Va., and was a member of the Virginia Gold Cup, a patron member of the National Steeplechase Association, and owned and raced his filly Gaeltarra. He was also a longtime member of the City Tavern Club of Washington and helped found the Cabin Fever Ball in Middleburg, Va., to raise funds for charity.

Bailey is survived by his parents; his brother, Jonathan; and his sister, Michael Anne. The class sends condolences to them on the loss of this lively and generous man.
