H. Bartley Arnold Jr. ’33

BART ARNOLD, who lived in Naples, Fla., and Columbus, Ohio, died in Columbus on Aug. 21, 1992, six days before his 80th birthday. A memorial service was held at the First Congregational Church on Aug. 25. A service will also be held in Naples, in November.

Bart was born Aug. 27, 1912, in Columbus, and prepared at Columbus Academy. in college he was on the board of THE DAILY PRINCE10NIAN, was a member of Terrace, and was awarded the Sherman Bennett prize in political science. He roomed with Frank Gordon and Howard Armstrong,

After college, Bart went to Yale Law School, and then practiced law in Columbus for many years, with time out for Navy service in WWII, as a lieutenant.

Bart served on many boards in Columbus. He retired as a partner in the firm of Porter, Wright, Morris and Arthur.

On July 8, 1936, Bart married Mary Jane Hubbard, in Columbus. She died May 10, 1971. Later he married Barbara Boothby, who survives. He is also survived by children Thomas B '59, Nancianne Henclacliffe, and Katherine Wade, and stepchildren David Boothby, Barbara Thun, and William Boothby. There are six grandchildren.
