H. Norris Love ’26

Body

RED LOVE, well known Chicagoan, died July 10, 1993, in Lake Forest Hospital, following a prolonged illness. Red, who was one of the youngest living members of the class, would have been 88 in October. He came to Princeton from Chicago Latin School and participated in a number of activities, including four years on the football squad and three years in the chorus of the Triangle Club. He was a member of Charter Club.

After graduation, Red earned a master's degree in chemical engineering at the Univ. of Michigan, and then worked for Ideal Roller Manufacturing in Chicago, from which he retired as chairman in 1969. For many years, he was a director of AnheuserBusch, Inc.

Red was an ardent conservationist and outdoors man, a former governing member of the Chicago Zoological Society, and a trustee of Shedd Aquarium.

In May 1933, Red married Anne Schuttler and later acquired George Beach as a brotherinlaw, when George married Anne's sister. Anne died in 1963. Red later married the former Susie Porter, who survives. Our profound sympathy goes to Susie; Red's son, Norris "Mike" '40; a sister, Edwina Otis; three granddaughters; and a greatgranddaughter. Red was a loyal member of the class and will be greatly missed.
