H. Wisner Miller Jr. ’34

Body

WIS MILLER, who retired in 1971 as a v.p. and group executive of I.B.M., died Feb. 18, 1994, at his home in Stuart, Fla. He had a summer home in Chatham on Cape Cod.

Wis left college at the end of sophomore year because, as he wrote, "I had to go to work ... I was lucky enough to join little International Business Machines Corp. [in 19371," he said. His rise there was fast, and when the company formed a realestate and construction division in 1963, he became its president.

In N.Y.C., Wis was also a trustee of the Institute for the Crippled and Disabled, v.p. and trustee of the Andrew Freedman Home, and onetime chairman of the United Fund. In 1970, he was appointed metro chairman of the Nail. Alliance of Businessmen for Westchester and Rockland Counties by President Nixon. In WWII, he served in the navy.

Surviving are his widow, Barbara (Clapp); three sons; a daughter; three stepchildren: a brother; and 13 grandchildren. To them, we offer our sincere sympathies.
