HAL DIED Aug. 23, 1991, at Lima, Penn. His has been a devoted Princetonian family, including John E. Johnson 1884, Walter L. Johnson 1896, Hal's brother R. Park Johnson '28, and his father, William H. Johnson 1888, president of Lincoln Univ.

Hal fashioned a long and lively career, until retirement in 1971, as a commercial supervisor for the Bell Telephone Company of Pennsylvania. Aside from business he led a very full life, strongly supporting the Presbyterian Church and working for the United Fund. He was a veteran traveler with his wife We Edith K. Emery), and was one of the few 1927ers to have attended an alumni college abroadat Cheltenham, England. He was a loyal member of the Lion's Club and was active in the local board of trade, recreation council, and civic association. He was a regular at Class dinners and gave famous neighborhood waffle parties.

Hal was interred in the family plot in the historic cemetery on Witherspoon Street, Princeton, along with many notable alumni and their teachers. The funeral service was at the Middletown Presbyterian Church, Elwyn, Penn., which would welcome memorial gifts. The Class extends its sympathy to his widow, Edie; his brother, R. Park Johnson; his sons, David, William, and Stephen; and his five grandchildren.
