BILL MITCHELL DIED in Washington, D.C., where he had lived almost all his life.

Bill was born in Chevy Chase, Md., Aug. 6, 1909 He was nicknamed Bill in honor of his godfather, Pres. William Howard Taft. He prepared at Hill.

At Princeton Bill was a member of Colonial Club, and roomed with Bud Martin.

After college Bill entered the construction business, at first in Buffalo, and later in Washington. In 1952 he formed his own firm, Harry D. Mitchell and Co., from which he retired in 1972. He then did consulting work for the Swedish Embassy, for which he was made a knight of the Royal Order of the Northern Star. He was a member of the Chevy Chase Club,

On Sept. 8, 1936, Bill married Josephine Moyer, in Merion, Penn. She died in 1986. They had two daughters, who survive, Josephine M. Woods, of Tampa, and Ann F. Brasfield, of Washington. There are five grandchildren, and two greatgrandchildren.
