Harry Norman Packer ’27

Body

From his executor, Mr. Richard G. Hyer, we have learned of Harry's death, on Apr. 24. For many years, he lived in Forked River, N.J. He was a widower, having lost his wife, née Beatrice Rogers (whom he had married in Ridgewood, N.J., in 1937). For many years after graduation, Harry was in the brokerage business on Wall Street. During WWII, he served as a supervisor of industrial relations for the Wright Aeronautical Corp. The rest of his business career was devoted to service as personnel and general manager for the Thatcher Furnace Co., in Garwood, N.J. For many years, he lived in Ho-Ho-Kus.

Ed closed his business career in June 1968 and devoted himself to an easy-going and pleasant retirement. He enjoyed meetings of the Forked River Old Guard (retirees) and the Old School House Museum, serving as an officer of both organizations. His was the life of a devoted suburban businessman, who performed his duties and community obligations quietly and efficiently, without striving to be famous. Every class has many of his kind, who are respected and appreciated if not celebrated. Classmates and friends may send sympathetic greetings to his sister, Mrs. Frank Bozarth, at 10371 Bay Hills Dr., Largo, FL 34644.
