Haswell P Brayton Jr. ’35

HASWELL BRAYTON passed away in Concord, N.H., after complications from surgery. He was 80. Born in Herkimer, N.Y., on May 24, 1913, he prepared at Phillips Academy. At Princeton, he majored in French and was a member of Charter Club. He roomed with N. B. Shea '35 during sophomore and junior years and with Shea and J. F. Bliss '36 senior year.

Upon graduation, he operated the famil3A retail business until he sold it in 1956. He also served in the coast guard from 194245, and was honorably discharged as a lieutenant j.g.

From 195673, Haswell served as commissioner of welfare for Herkimer County and then for Jefferson County in New York. He and his family then retired to Peterborough, N.H., where he lived until his death.

A modelrailroad enthusiast, Haswell built and displayed numerous H.C.gauge layouts for over 25 years.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, the former Dorothy Carr, and son Thomas Mark '65~
