Henry Bertram Holmes ’36

HARRY DIED at home Dec. 17, 1993, at 80. He prepared at Westminster School. After a year at Dartmouth, he transferred to Princeton, where he majored 'in economics and was a member of Charter.

During WWII, he was a lieutenant in the navy, stationed at the bureau of supplies and accounts in Washington, D.C. For many years, Harry was executive v.P. and treasurer of Columbia Ribbon and Carbon Manufacturing, Inc., of Glen Cove, N.Y. He served Old Brookville, N.Y. as police commissioner for 25 years and mayor for two years. He was a director for 57 years of the Nassau Trust Co. of Glen Cove. After many years of service as a director of the North Shore Bank of Long Island, at the time of his death, he was director emeritus.

He is survived by his widow, Virginia, whom he married in 1936, daughters Hon. Ellen H. Maloney and Margaret H. Robbins; son David R.; six grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren.

Harry indeed did well in life. He will be remembered by the class.
