Henry H. Hoyt Jr. ’49

Harry died Aug. 17, 2015, at home in New York City.

Harry’s father was a member of the Class of 1917 and his brother, Charles, was in the Class of 1951. He prepped at the Pingry School, and despite Army service from 1946 to 1947 that interrupted his undergraduate career, he was able to graduate with us. Harry majored in economics, graduated cum laude, and immediately joined Carter Products Co. (later Carter-Wallace), a major pharmaceutical firm. His entire career was with this firm, and he retired in 2000 as chairman of the board.

Harry was a volunteer for many Princeton activities, including the Maclean Society, the Athletics Committee, and several Alumni Council committees. He was a major gifts volunteer and the vice president of our class from 1959 to 1964. Beyond Princeton’s orbit, he served on Pingry’s board and on that of the American Paralysis Association.

He is survived by his wife, Molly, and was predeceased by his first wife, Muriel (“Chris”). Harry also is survived by his daughters, Heather Hoyt Georges and Holly Hoyt Crissan. Our sympathy and condolences go to Harry’s family.
