Henry Nason Kinney Brookings ’39

Body

KINNEY DIED of a heart attack, suddenly but peacefully, Mar. 1, 1993, at his home in Shreveport, La., where he had lived since 1945. Following graduation, he spent 15 years with Phillips Petroleum Co. in Oklahoma, North Dakota, and Louisiana, before setting up his own business, Brookings, Moffatt & Waddle, an oil and gas consulting company. During WWII, "The Bunk" joined the Navy, serving in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters; he remained in the Naval reserve, retiring with the rank of commander.

A kind, loving person devoted to his family, Kinney also gave unstintingly of his time to numerous church, civic, and professional activities. His Princeton Glee Club experience launched him into 41 years with the North Highlands United Methodist Church choir. He was a founder of North Shreveport Swimming Club and a member of the Lions Club, Shreveport Geological Society, American Assn. of Petroleum Geologists, Geological Society of America, and the Society of Independent Professional Earth Scientists. He continued his devotion to Princeton athletics as a donor to Friends of Lacrosse.

To his wife Frannie, daughter Deborah, sons David and Jeff, and seven grandchildren, we extend our heartfelt sympathy.
