Henry T. Robertson ’33

HENRY ROBERTSON DIED Jan. 16, 1994. He had lived in Santa Fe, N.Mex., for several years.

Robbie was born Nov. 12, 1909, in Bremen, Germany. He prepared at the Webb School in California. In college, he played 150lb. football and rowed on the 150lb crew, which went to the Henley Regatta. He was a member of Campus.

After college, Robbie joined the family firm, E. T. Robertson and Son, an international agent for cotton exporters. In the course of his career, he spent over 30 years abroad, including stints in Germany, India, China, and Japan. From 194143, he taught at the Webb School and then spent three years with the O.S.S. He became a rancher, and then joined the C.I.A., serving in India.

In 1941, Robbie married Pauline Mathesius, in New Canaan, Conn. She died in 1987. Their two children, Douglas and Carole (the wife of Philip Coviello '65), survive. From Robbie's wanderings, it is easy to see why we did not see much of him through the years. This was our loss. The class extends its sympathy to his family.
