HOBIE DIED July 1, 1992, at his summer place in the Adirondacks. He was born in New York and prepared at Taft. At Princeton he roomed freshman year with George Nichols; sophomore year with B. 0. Jackson; and junior and senior years with John Gorman. He was a member of the freshman track and debating teams, Clio Hall, and Dial Lodge. He graduated with honors in history and Phi Beta Kappa.

After receiving his law degree at Harvard, Hobie specialized in international law and S.E.C, regulations. He represented the Philip Morris Co. in foreign acquisitions. During WWII he served for 36 months with the Navy in the American and Pacific theaters. An inveterate traveler, Hobie visited Soviet Russia in 1929 and went around the world in 1930.

Hobie's wife, son, and daughter predeceased him. He is survived by three granddaughters, Allison, Sandra, and Diana, and one greatgrandchild, to whom the Class extends its profound sympathy.
