Scotty finished at John Burroughs in St. Louis, his hometown, and came to Princeton to major in biology and to prepare for a medical career like his father. He ate at Terrace, played lacrosse, and joined the St. Louis Club. His roommates were Hal Arensmeyer, Bob Morris, and Mal Graff. In The Book of Our History Scotty recalled his courses on Wagner, art, and philosophy, concluding that Princeton “was where I grew up.” Classmates relished his readiness for fun and wry sense of wit.

He earned a medical degree at Washington University in 1956 and did his residency in radiology at Penn. After two years of service in the medical corps at Bethesda Naval Hospital he joined his father’s radiology practice and was chief of the radiology department at Lutheran Hospital in St. Louis for many years.

In 1990 Scotty retired and with his wife, Meredith, moved to Coronado Island, San Diego. Scotty died there Oct. 23, 2021. He is survived by Meredith; his daughters, Martha and Cynthia; and son Riley. To them the class sends its best wishes, with fond smiles over our recollections of Scotty and with thanks for his naval service to our country.
