HOWARD REID, retired marketing and management executive, died suddenly of a massive heart attack on Feb. 7, 1992, at his winter home in Boca Raton, Fla.

An alumnus of Montclair Academy, Howie majored in economics, was manager of Charter Club, and was active in football, basketball, and baseball. After graduation he joined the Army Medical Corps and later transferred to the Navy, serving as a lieutenant in the Mediterranean. Returning to civilian life, he was an executive in marketing and advertising for Union Carbide, A.M.F., Universal Oil Products, and Management and Marketing institute, where lie enjoyed taking clients away from the big names in the business,

Howie was a regular at reunions. lie was interested in his classmates' lives but rarely talked about himself. After his retirement, in 1976, he divided his time between Bronxville, N.Y., in the summer and Boca Raton in the winter.

He is survived by his widow, the former Laurelaine Buckingham; their son Scott; daughter Mrs. Bruce Morrison; and four grandchildren. Like them we shall miss Howie.
