Howard H. Hildreth ’36
HANS, A LONGTIME RESIDENT of Washington, Penn., died Jan. 7, 1994. He prepared at Lawrenceville School. At Princeton, he majored in philosophy and was a member of Colonial.
During WWII, he served four years in the army field artillery, retiring as a major. He saw action in France and Germany, and was awarded five battle stars and the bronze star with cluster.
Before the war, he was associated with the Hazel Atlas Glass Co. After his military service, he was with Washington Steel Corp. in several management positions. He retired in 1976 after 30 years of service. His hobbies included swimming, sailing, hunting, gardening, and opera.
Hans is survived by son Eugene A. 111, stepson Smith W Roedel, daughter Margaret H. Kyle, stepdaughters Julia V. Held and Dorothy Taylor, four grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. We regret not seeing much of Hans in his latter years. He will be remembered.
