Hugh C. Forbes Jr. ’31

Body

WE HAVE LOST a songbird with the death on Oct. 12, 1993, of Hugh Forbes, who sang in our choir and glee club, and led singing at our 40th. At Princeton, he participated in football and track, and was a member of Whig Hall and Key and Seal Club.

Later, his engineering career involved estimating, moving big buildings, construction, manufacturing, and project engineering.

In addition to playing piano weekly for the retired men's club, he was a longtime lay reader and vestryman in the Episcopal Church. As a Mason, he held many high positions, including worshipful master, high priest, thrice illustrious master, and commander.

His hobbies of gardening and fishing he shared with his widow, Irene, who is now living with their daughter Mary Ann Dyer. To them and to their other two daughters, Sandra Lucas and Margaret Mayo, and the four grandchildren, we extend our heartfelt sympathy.
