Ian Stuart Ridgway ’46

Body

Ian Stuart Ridgway passed away on Jan. 15, 1989, in Garden City, N.Y., after a long and debilitating illness. A memorial service was held at the Garden City Community Church. Born on Apr. 8, 1924, Ian attended the Pomfret School, where he was captain of the baseball team. In later years, he pursued this interest by coaching Little League baseball in Garden City.

At Princeton, he was a member of Ivy Club and majored in politics. His undergraduate career was interrupted by WWII, during which he served in military intelligence in England and France for two years. He eventually graduated from Princeton in 1948, and then did personnel work for Manufacturers Hanover Bank, Sports Illustrated, and Morgan Guaranty Bank. His deteriorating health forced him into early retirement.

On June 21, 1947, Ian married Lois M. Parisette, who survives him, as do their three children, Michael, Diana Lotito, and Brian; a granddaughter, Tracy; and a brother, Bruce '36. He was predeceased by his father-in-law, J. Oswald Parisette '18 and his brothers Donald '28 and Kenneth '31. The class extends its sincere sympathy to Ian's family in its loss.
