Ira Nathaniel Rosenstein ’51

Body

IRA DIED Sept. 5, 1989, in South Miami Hospital of acute leukemia. He practiced internal medicine and cardiol¬ogy in Dade County for 28 years, after getting his degree from the S.U.N.Y. Downstate Medical School and serving his internship at Mount Sinai Hospital in Miami Beach, with residency in internal medicine at the Veterans' Hospital in Coral Gables.

Ira's vocation consisted of being on the staffs of vari¬ous hospitals, a member of professional organizations, doing research and contributing to journals.

His avocations, however, were somewhat different. He taught Bible classes at the University Christian Church (where his memorial service was held) and was a deacon and an elder. He loved to travel. He and his family were on the road frequently: back and forth across the U.S.A., to Europe and Asia—exciting times for all of them.

Ira came to Princeton from James Madison High School in N.Y. In college he majored in biology and roomed with David Smith. He spent undergraduate sum¬mers as an attendant at the N.J. Hospital for the Mentally Ill and at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn.

Pat, his wife of 31 years, writes, "Ira loved to reminisce about his Princeton days. He loved being a doctor and considered his patients his friends."

In addition to Pat, Ira is survived by two sons, the Reverend Scott and Bradford, and a grandson.

The Class salutes a remarkable member and friend.
