Iredell W. Iglehart ’49

Body

“Idy” Iglehart died in Towson, Md., Aug. 2, 2010, of heart failure.

He came to Princeton, where he majored in economics, from Kent (Conn.) School and after having served in the Army for a year.

Idy’s business career started with Davison Chemical Co. and later continued at several securities firms, where he was a senior analyst. From 1985 until 1990, he was a vice president in the trust and investment division of Morgan Guaranty Trust Co. Highly regarded as an investment analyst, he appeared on the cover of Institutional Investor as a member of its all-star team and also made a guest appearance on Louis Rukeyser ’54’s Wall Street Week on public television.

He and his wife, Courtney, retired in 1990.

Idy was interested in his family’s genealogy and was actively involved with Stratford Hall Plantation in Stratford, Va., the birthplace of Gen. Robert E. Lee. He also was interested in naval history and maintained a large library devoted to the subject.

In addition to Courtney, his wife of 57 years, Idy is survived by a son, Iredell W. III; daughters Courtney D’Alessio and Alice Schwarz; a sister, Alice I. McAdams; and six grandchildren. The class extends deepest sympathy to them all.
