J. Fred Schoellkopf Jr. ’30
FRED DIED Oct. 26, 1993. He was born Jan. 14, 1909 in Dallas, the son of J. Fred Schoellkopf and Bess Wilson. His father, who graduated from the Pennsylvania Military College, was a wholesale merchant and manufacturer, president of Schoellkopf Co. in Dallas, and a director of both the First Nail. Bank and Industrial Insurance Co. Fred succeeded his father in the Schoelkopf Co. as president. He was also active in other businesses, such as land holding and banking.
Fred prepared for Princeton at the Hotchkiss School. At Princeton, he was a member of the gym team, baseball team, and the varsity baseball squad. He was also a member of Ivy Club.
Freshman year, he roomed at 30 Nassau St. with David S. Lowry and John B. Welborn, and sophomore year with Jervis Spencer Janney. At the end of sophomore year, Fred left Princeton to return to Texas, where he married Anne Tenison Braddock in Dallas June 15, 1929.
To his widow and family the class extends its sympathy.
