Jack A. Brizius died Feb. 19, 1995, in McConnellsburg, Penn., after a brief, but fierce, battle with pancreatic cancer. Jack graduated magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from the Woodrow Wilson School, where he also got his master's and Ph.D. A member of Quadrangle Club, he was speaker of the Undergraduate Assembly and president of Young Republicans.

After serving in the Army Reserve and five years in New Jersey state government, Jack was, successively, deputy budget director of Illinois, director of planning and development of Pennsylvania, and director of the Center for Policy Research of the Natl. Governor's Assn. Since 1981, Jack and his wife had been running Brizius & Foster, a national consulting company specializing in public finance, education, economic development, and planning for the public sector, In this capacity, Jack was recognized as an expert on gubernatorial transitions, educational reform, and welfare reform. His publications include Enhancing Adult Literacy, Getting Results: A Guide to Government Accountability; Governing the American States (ed.); Preventing Teenage Pregnancy; Profile of the South; Profile of the West; and States in Profile.

Jack is survived by his widow, Susan Foster; his daughters Alison and Erin; his mother; and his sister. The class shares their loss and offers them its profound sympathy.
