BEER BARON and golf and gin rummy expert Jack Bredenberg, who had progressed to playing golf again after having a knee replacement in 1991 and being paralyzed in Feb. 1992 from the waist down after cancer spread and compressed his spinal chord, died Nov. 19, 1993, leaving his wife of 48 years, Marie; four children; nine grandchildren; and brothers Carl '33 and Richard.

Jack prepared at South Park H.S. in Buffalo. At Princeton, he majored in economics, taking honors, and was assistant manager of the Princeton Pictorial, on the debating panel, and a member of Terrace.

He was first a local distributor for various brands of beer in Buffalo and then became president of the U.S. company representing Labatt Beer and Ale of Canada. He was also a director of the Nail. Beer Wholesalers Assn., representing New York. He retired in 1972 and wintered in Tequesta Fla., where he ran a pre50th reunion party in 1987.

Jack was treasurer, president, and a director of the Princeton Club of Western New York, member of the local schools and scholarships committee, and on our executive committee. He was president of the Buffalo Jr. Chamber of Commerce and of the Wanakah Country Club. He also served as honorary consul of Sweden for 12 years, for which he was knighted by the king.
