James C. Pinkerton ’57

At Princeton he majored in English and joined Tiger Inn. He roomed with Dave Silhanek and Kent Simons senior year. He loved Princeton and often related how the excellent preparation he received at Princeton enabled him to attend the University of Oklahoma Law School and graduate Order of the Coif. Shep Davis remembers taking the graduate law exam with Jim, who scored in the 95th percentile, while Shep, a member of Phi Beta Kappa, earned a 45th percentile.  

After law school Jim entered law practice with his father in the firm of Pinkerton & Pinkerton. He was a bar examiner, certified before the U.S. Supreme Court. He became chairman of the Board of Bar Examiners in 1979. He was active in other legal groups.  

His outside business activities included being an underwriter at Lloyds of London and motel ownership.  

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Neeta; son John; daughter Beth Sewell; and five grandchildren. The class extends its condolences to his family. We will surely miss this fine man.
