James Frank Bell ’25

FRANK BELL was born in Atlanta, Ga., Sept. 29, 1901, and died there Aug. 22,1993. After graduating from Georgia Tech as a mechanical engineer, he joined our class in Sept. 1923, and graduated from the economics dept. He roomed with Hugh Carter and was a member of Charter.

Upon returning to Atlanta, he entered the contracting business. His firm, Christian and Bell, were contractors for Techwood Homes, the nation's oldest public housing project, built in 1940; the administrative annex of the Fulton County courthouse, erected in 1954; and the governor's mansion, completed in 1967. He retired in 1973.

Frank belonged to the Piedmont Driving Club, the Nine O'Clocks Social Club, the Kappa Educational Foundation (serving for a period as secretarytreasurer), and the Trinity Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his widow, Marjorie Smith Bell, whom he married in 1933; a son, James Jr.; a daughter, Gladys Mitchell; and five grandchildren.
