Jim died Nov. 10, 2010, in Cincinnati.  

He came to Princeton from Chestnut Hill Academy and the Hun School. At Princeton he majored in biology and roomed with Bob Henderson sophomore, junior and senior years. He was a member of Court Club.

In September 1941, he enlisted in the Coast Guard as a seaman 2nd class and wound up as a coxswain on an LST before his discharge in November 1945. He served on patrol craft in the Atlantic before transferring to the Pacific theater on U.S.S. LST-77, where he participated in four invasions, the biggest of which was Okinawa.

After his military service, Jim joined Procter & Gamble, where he spent his entire career, retiring in 1982.

Jim is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jeanne Schoenberger Stone; five sons, James, Richard, David, John, and Kenneth; and nine grandchildren.
