James Maltman Jr. ’31

Body

IT was from his widow's reply to Dave Kreitler's acknowl¬edgment of Jim's contribution to Annual Giving that we learned the sad news of his death, on Apr. 13, 1989. We don't know the circumstances of his passing, but his health had been a matter of concern in recent years.

In the course of his career as a banker, Jim rose to become president and chairman of the board of the Aetna State Bank, in Chicago. He retired in 1967. He also served as a director of the Grant Hospital of Chi¬cago. During WWII, he was an officer in the A.G.D.; he was discharged with the rank of lieutenant. Jim had a summer home in Fish Creek, Wisc., a place aptly named for the sport he enjoyed for relaxation.

The class extends its deepest sympathy to Jim's widow, Marie; two daughters, Taya and Elizabeth; a son, James; and four grandchildren.
