James W. Halloran ’56

Body

He came to Princeton from Louisville, Ky., and soon thereafter befriended fellow classmate George Patterson. They later became brothers-in-law when Jim married Charlotte Patterson in 1958. Laurie Castleman was a groomsman at the wedding.

Jim majored in history and throughout his life remained an ardent student of history and politics. He was a member of Quadrangle Club as were his senior-year roommates, Bill Halloran, Bob McCartney, Russ Peck, Ted Rice, and Bud Updike. Jim remained especially close to those five
classmates.

Jim was a 1959 graduate of the University of Virginia Law School and practiced law in Cincinnati for 45 years. He was active in the Princeton Club of Cincinnati and loved developing new friendships with classmates during his attendance at reunions. In these ways, George Callard became an especially dear friend.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte; daughters Gibby and Liza ’87; a son, Vince; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Kevin.

Valued especially for his integrity, his passion for life, and the twinkle in his eyes, Jim is greatly missed by all who knew him.
