JAY WILLIAM BLUM *34, nearly 84, died July 4, 1989. Born in Wheeling, W.Va., on Aug. 3, 1905, he received his A.B degree in economics from the College of Wooster, Wooster Ohio, in 1929. At Kenyon College he taught economics. During a leave front Kenyon, he carried his M.A. and PhD at Princeton in economics. From 1943 to 1944 he taught a Duke Univ. He also spent a year as a Securities analyst lo the Securities and Exchange Commission, and six month teaching at Oklahoma A&M. The family then moved to Linfield College at McMinnville, Ore., for five years. In 1953, the Blums moved to Urbana, Ohio, for a Fiveyea period of farming and cattle-raising. In 1958, Dr. Blum accepted a teaching assignment at Heidelberg College Tiffin, Ohio, but the attraction of cattle raising was too strong, and he retired from teaching at age 65. The Blums had two daughters, one of whom died as a young adult. The other daughter, Gretchen, and her mother continue the cattle enterprise. To them both we offer sincere sympathy,

Andrew Whitley Bright *36
ANDREW WHII LFY BRICHT, age 76, died Jan. 1, 1990. He was born Sept. 18, 1913, in Hopkinsville, Ky., where he spent his early years. The family then moved to Berkeley, where he completed high school. In 1935 he received an A.B. degree from Stanford Univ. He earned a master's degree from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton. The next three years of his life were devoted to the business world. In 1939, he joined the U.S. Navy as a flyer; he received his wings in 1940. The Navy occupied his time for some 22 years. He retired in 1962 with the rank of captain. One year later, Capt, Bright was recalled to serve as management analyst for the chief of naval operations, retiring in 1973. He was an enthusiastic skier and continued to pursue this sport until one year before his death. Surviving are his widow, Mildred, whom he married in 1934, and her two sons by a previous marriage. We extend sincere sympathies to his family and friends.
