Jehu Stokley Merry ’60

Hugh was born in Fort Worth, Texas, and attended Murphy High School in Mobile, Ala., where he was a member of the National Honor Society and debating team and was a state junior golf champion.  

His activities at Princeton included the golf team, the outing and mountaineering clubs, and the Student Christian Association. He majored in biology, was president of the Alabama Club and the Pre-Med Society, and joined Tower Club. His roommates were Ed Prohl, Charlie Stamm, and Rob Warne.

After graduation, Hugh worked in his father’s business and pursued various entrepreneurial activities. Besides golf, Hugh’s favorite pastimes were squash and reading.

Hugh’s brother, Ted, and his sister, Gloria, and her children survive him. The class offers its sincere condolences to them.
