John 1. Reynolds ’43
JOHN DIED at home Dec. 16, 1991, after a courageous fiveyear battle against leukemia. He was 68.
Graduating from Phillips Exeter, John finished his degree at Princeton with honors in 1943. Following WWII naval service as a lieutenant in the Pacific Theater, he entered Harvard Business School, receiving his M.B.A. as a Baker Scholar in 1948.
For the next 16 years, John worked in business for Franklin Ice Cream in Toledo; American Airlines in New York; and United Research of Cambridge, Mass.
John earned his Ph.D. in 1963 and embarked on a second career of teaching. After meritorious work with the Ford Foundation, USAID, and other agencies in a variety of developing countries, John joined Texas A. & M. and taught in the management department for 11 years. He retired in 1986 as emeritus professor, moving to Lake Wales, Fla., where he lived until his death '
John is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sarah; five children, Rebecca, Willard '70, Craig '72, Aleta, and Carissa; and ten grandchildren,
