JOHN DIED Jan. 7, 1993. He had prepared for college at St. Marks. At Princeton, he was on the freshman crew and varsity fencing team. He roomed with Chick Jacobus. After Princeton, John went to Harvard Medical School, interned in N.Y.C., and practiced in Great Neck. Then he went to Johns Hopkins and received a degree of master of public health. In 1941 and 1942, he was an epidemiologist with the Red Cross in Salisbury, England. He then went into the Army as a captain in the Medical Corps, receiving battle stars in the Normandy, Northern France, Germany, and Central Europe campaigns. In 1945, he retired with the rank of major, and in 1946 he became district health officer in the New York State Dept of Health at Middletown. He retired in 1968 and moved to Byfield, Mass, He married Ethel 0. Morgan in 1946, and she survives, together with their two sons, John A. III and William Marshall. John and Ethel had lots of fun during his retirement, traveling extensively and constantly going to Boston for the theater. The Class extends sincere sympathy to John's family.
