JOHN HARRINGTON DIED Aug. 4, 1994, at the Maples Nursing Home in Wrentham, Mass. After graduating with us, John continued his studies in philosophy at Princeton, obtaining his master's degree. In 1935, he went to Union Theological Seminary in N.Y.C., receiving his B.D. in 1938.

For the next eight years, he served as a minister in the Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis and Ohio. He authored two textbooks, ESSENTIALS IN CHRISTIAN FAITH and ISSUES IN CHRISTIAN THOUGHT. In 1946, he became professor of philosophy at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oreg., retiring in 1975. He also received a fellowship for further study at Princeton, through which he earned his Ph.D. in philosophy. He was a visiting scholar at Harvard Divinity School in 1965 and 1966. He belonged to the America Philosophical Assn. and the West Coast Theological Group.

In 1937, John married his wife, Carolyn, who survives him, along with a daughter, Alice H. Davino, and two grandsons, David and Mark. The class offers its sincere sympathy to them over the loss of this dedicated minister and teacher.
