John B. Lewis ’22

We are saddened to report that our former president, John "Jack" Lewis, died of heart failure Dec. 17, 1994. Jack served as president from 1987-93, organizing and leading our 10th reunion. He also served as a trustee of the Class of '22 Foundation. Jack moved to Meadow Lakes in Hightstown, N.J., seven years ago from Locust Valley, N.Y. He was active in alumni and local affairs.

Jack transferred from Columbia at the beginning of sophomore year. After Princeton, he got a master's in engineering from M.I.T. He worked with several engineering companies, and in 1953, started work as an investment consultant. He retired in 1985.

He was a member of the Nassau Club in Princeton. Jack's first wife, Jeanne Leonard Lewis, died in 1977. He was remarried, to Marjorie Cuyler, in 1991, She survives him as do his children, daughter Gay L Jefferson and 5011 John 13. Jr.; five grandsons; and four stepchildren. Jack was buried at St. John's Church in Lattingtown, N.Y., beside his first wife.
