John Bradley Chick ’22

Body

WE HAVE JUST learned of the death of John Chick on Dec. 26, 1989, following a long illness. He was born in Titusville, Penn., on Feb. 8, 1900, graduated from the local high school, and transferred from the Univ. of Pittsburgh to Princeton in 1919. He specialized in real estate and insurance. Following a year's experience in New York, he joined his father in the Maxwell B. Chick Co., established in 1863. After some years of local development work, he sold the Chick Co. during WWII and entered the Navy, rising to the rank of commander. He was recalled to service during the Korean War, transferring to the U.S. Air Force as a lt. colonel. Upon his retirement from the service, he moved to Fort Lauderdale, returning later to Titusville Redevelopment Authority. He continued there until the death of his second wife in 1965, when he returned to Florida.

He was married three times, the last time being to Elisabeth D. Bathgate. He is survived by his widow, three children, and six grandchildren. To all of them we send our sincere sympathy.
