John C. Hanna ’27

John C. Hanna died Mar. 25, l 995. Jack came to us from N. Braddock H.S. and Ohio Wesleyan Univ., from which he transferred in 1924. He graduated from the Univ. of Pittsburgh Law School and practiced law in Pittsburgh with the firm of Patterson, Crawford, Arensberg and Dunn for a number of years with classmate Jim Crawford.

In WWII, he was commissioned a captain in the Army Air Force, serving in the European Theater as a combat intelligence officer. Promoted to colonel, he received the Army Commendation Ribbon and the French Medaile de Reconnoisance before retiring in 1947. After the war, he became a partner in the law firm Metz, Cook, Hanna and Kelly in Pittsburgh. He was a long time resident of N. Braddock, Penn., but spent his closing years at the Univ. Club in Pittsburgh, before moving to the Glenshire Nursing Home in McKeesport, Penn.

Jack never married. He is survived by his brother, Charles Hanna, '30. We are indebted to classmate Jim Crawford for this information. We extend our condolences to Charles Hanna.
