John C. Kelbaugh ’35
JACK DIED May 18, 1994, in Naples, Fla., after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. He prepared for college at Mercersburg and majored in economics at Princeton. After graduation, Jack joined Shell Oil Co. and began a nomadic career in the U.S., serving in at least 13 cities, including eight years in N.Y.C., before he retired.
During WWII, Jack served as air officer in the Americal Division. He was stationed in the Pacific and was awarded the Air Medal with cluster and the Bronze Star. He was discharged as a major. Jack settled in Naples after retirement, was v.p. of the class, and organized a very successful mini-reunion in Naples. He was also an enthusiastic golfer and an excellent woodworker.
Jack is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marguerite Travis; two sons, John C. '65 and Douglas E. '67; a daughter, Molly Druck; and five grandchildren. To them, the class extends its sympathy.
