John C. McLeod ’44
JACK DIED of a heart attack Mar. 5, 1994. He was 72. A Princeton son of Donald McLeod '12, he joined the class, along with John Lathrop, from the Park School in Indianapolis. They were roommates for all four years at 131 Henry. Jack majored in English, played varsity tennis, and was a member of Tiger Inn. After graduation he took Navy O.C.S. at Columbia and then served in both the Mediterranean and Pacific aboard minesweepers. He commanded the U.S.S. STRENGTH as a It. j.g.
Upon his separation, he entered banking with Chase Manhattan in N.Y.C. In 1950, Jack joined Russell Manufacturing and moved to Chicago as manager of their belting division. In May 1952, he married Sally Bunnell. He returned to banking later that year, first with La Salle Natl. and finally with Hartford Plaza.
Jack was a devoted family man, a people man, and a Princeton man, active in the N.Y.C. and Chicago clubs. It was his written request that the strains of "Old Nassau" be played at his memorial service. St. James Episcopal in Northfield overflowed with old friends paying their final respects to this caring, popular man.
Sally has the staunch support of daughters Mary Anderson and Nancy and sons Andrew and John. To them and all oJ ack's many friends, we offer our condolences. He will be sorely missed at our 50th.
