JOHN A. C. "JAC" WELLER, who had been in declining health, died Aug. 18, 1994, of a self-inflicted shotgun wound. He was 81. Jac prepared at the Hun School. At Princeton, he majored in electrical engineering. He also played guard on our undefeated and unscored-upon freshman football team, and, spent three years on a varsity team that suffered only one defeat in that time. Jac was a 1936 all­American and in 1967 was admitted to the Natl. College Football Hall of Fame. In l967, he was named to the all-East and all-time teams.

After WWII, he and wife Cornelia conducted their real-estate and insurance business in Prince­ton. Since l971, their working farm was one of the few remaining in Princeton township.

He was a recognized author, lecturer, military historian, firearms expert, and engineer, consulting here and abroad. He wrote nine books, including three on the Duke of Wellington, plus many articles, ranging from three on small arms for ENCYCLOPEDIA BRITTANICA, to several on the American Civil War. He was an honorary curator of both museums of the U.S. Military Academy and the British Army School of Infantry.

Jae is survived by a sister, Blanche Ray Collmann, and a half-sister, Burma. We will miss this man of many talents.
