BALDY DIED Oct. 12, 1991, at 78. He had a brother Stephen '33 and a brotherinlaw Marshall Sprague '30.

He prepared at Episcopal High School, Alexandria, Va. At Princeton he majored in engineering and was a member of Tower Club. He left Princeton in his junior year and became claims agent of the Baltimore and Ohio R.R. He graduated in 1940 from West Virginia Univ. Law School.

In 1941 he entered military service in the infantry as a private. He served in the Italian campaign, was awarded three battle stars, and was separated in 1945 as a first lieutenant. He served some 33 years in the Reserves retiring as a lieutenant colonel.

Baldy practiced law in Romney, Wisc., for many years. From 1954 until his death, he was editor of the weekly HAMPSHIRE REVIEW. In the 1970's he was media representative for the National Rifle Assn.

He served on the West Virginia Conservation Commission and was chairman, under four governors, of the West Virginia State Water Resources Board. He was a member of the Board of the Hampshire Memorial Hospital and the Bank of Romney. He was a vestryman of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church and was a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity.

He is survived by his widow, Ann Yoke, whom he married in 1942, a son John C. Jr., a daughter Sallie A. See, and six grandchildren.

Baldy lived a full life. Princeton and his Class are proud of him.
