John D. Fischbeck Jr. ’46

Body

JOHN D. FLSCHBECK JR. died July 24, 1992, in Charlottesville, Va., after a short pulmonary illness. John was born in Brooklyn, grew up in Bloomfield, N.J., and joined our Class in 1942, after graduating from Lawrenceville. He went on to Cornell in the V12 Program, returning to Princeton for his degree. After receiving law degrees from New York Univ. and the Univ. of Virginia, John was called back to the Navy during the Korean War, serving with the judge advocate general in Norfolk and retiring as lieutenant commander.

Most of John's professional career was spent as a trust officer and account executive at the Jefferson National Bank in Charlottesville. He became a civic leader there, serving as president of the local chapter of the American Institute of Banking, president of the Albemarle Rotary Club, an officer of the Charlottesville Jaycees, and an active member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and the Farmington Country Club.

John is survived by his devoted wife, Emile; by a daughter, Kimberley Ann Forward; by a son, John D. II; and by two grandchildren. John and Emile attended our 45th reunion, and he will be remembered as a loyal, active member of our Class.

We in the Class of '46 send our deepest sympathy to Emile, her children, and grandchildren, and wish a fond farewell to one of our own.
