John D. Stout Jr. ’33

Body

JACK STOUT DIED in West Palm Beach, Fla., Mar. 30, 1994. The Hartford Courant called him a "Civic Leader and Banker." For some years, he had spent his winters in Abaco, Bahamas.

Jack was born Oct. 2, 1911, in Hanford. He later lived in Westfield, N.J., and prepared at Pingry. In college, he was a member of Quadrangle, and roomed with Chic Doak, Bill Franklin, and Bullet Smith.

After college, Jack studied law at night, while working in insurance in N.Y.C. and Hartford. He later joined the Hartford Natl. Bank and Trust, where he was v.p. and trust officer. He later was v.p. and financial director of Philips Industries, and still later a developer of real estate in southern New England.

He was active in civic organizations in Hartford. In 1938, Jack married Frances Stanley in New Britain, Conn. She survives, as do their children: John, Samuel, and Elizabeth; a foster son, Jonathan Searles; and Jack's sister, Cynthia Pond. The class extends deep sympathy to Frances and the family.
